Grievance Mechanism

Purpose

The Nature Value Foundation (NVF) is committed to maintaining an accessible, transparent, and efficient process for addressing grievances related to its operations, standards, and procedures. This policy is available to all stakeholders, including project proponents, validation and verification bodies (VVBs), local communities, and other parties impacted by NVF activities.

Scope

This grievance policy applies to:

  • Issues related to NVF standards, methodologies, or other normative documents.

  • Disputes regarding NVF decisions on crediting, eligibility, or registry services.

  • Concerns about VVB actions, including validation or verification processes.

  • Complaints regarding adverse impacts resulting from NVF program requirements or project activities.

Grievance Submission Requirements

To file a grievance, stakeholders must submit the following information in writing to the NVF email address provided on the official NVF website:

  • Complainant’s Contact Information: Name, organisation, and email address.

  • Description of Grievance: A clear explanation of the issue, including relevant dates, impacted parties, and the specific NVF standards or procedures involved.

  • Supporting Documentation: Any relevant evidence or documentation to substantiate the grievance.

  • Accuracy Declaration: A statement affirming the accuracy of the information provided.

Grievance Process and Timelines

  1. Acknowledgment: TheNVF will acknowledge receipt of a grievance within 10 business days.

  2. Initial Review: The NVF will complete an initial review within 30 days to determine the eligibility of the grievance. During this period, the NVF may request additional information from the complainant.

  3. Resolution Effort: If the grievance is eligible, the NVF will first attempt to resolve the issue informally. If informal resolution is not possible, the NVF will conduct a full investigation.

  4. Investigation Timeline: The NVF will aim to complete a comprehensive investigation and issue a decision within 90 days. Should additional time be necessary, the NVF will inform the complainant and provide an estimated completion date.

Confidentiality and Transparency

The NVF is committed to handling all grievances confidentially. Information will only be disclosed when required by legal or regulatory obligations. Anonymity requests are respected but may limit the NVF's ability to fully investigate or resolve the grievance.

Policy Review and Updates

This grievance policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure it meets stakeholder needs and aligns with best practices for transparency and public accountability. Stakeholder feedback is welcomed to help improve the grievance process.
